The World Philanthropy Index project initiated by the World Philanthropy Forum (WPF), with the goal of establishing a community with a shared future for mankind and promoting the dialogue between civilizations, describes and reflects the common characteristics, diversity and development trend of public philanthropy in the world. Compared to existing related indexes, WPI focuses more on the culture and behavior of philanthropy. It not only pays attention to organized professional philanthropy in the modern sense, but also pays attention to more diverse forms and phenomena of philanthropy, such as religious philanthropy, community philanthropy and personal assistance.

The first phase of the World Philanthropy Index project will conduct exploratory research and measurement in 10 countries. The project also looks forward to deepening the understanding of the philanthropy culture and development of other countries in the world, especially the developing countries along the Belt and Road routes, and strives to build a transnational philanthropy research network. The experts and representatives presenting here combined their own research and practical experience and put forward a wealth of suggestions for research perspectives, index dimensions, and countries for research, etc.
