Release of the 2019 the Fourth Philanthropy Forum Outcomes

From September 5th to 6th, 2019, the Fourth World Philanthropy Forum (WPF), jointly hosted by Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Tsinghua University (THU), the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and co-hosted by Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, was successfully concluded.

Five joint initiatives were released at the closing ceremony, namely the Regional and Local Governments Philanthropy Promotion Cooperation Plan, Philanthropy and Wealth Inheritance Plan, Philanthropy for Future Competition Plan, Social Services Leading Talents Training Plan, and Foundation's International Friendly Cooperation Program. It announced the initiation of programs such as the Philanthropy and Wealth Inheritance Plan and Philanthropy for Future Competition Plan as well as old ones such as Social Service Leading Talents Training Plans and Cultivating Philanthropic Talent Program launched last year. These initiatives have further contributed to the integration of the world's philanthropic community by providing useful reference for the development of global philanthropic activities and building a multilevel and all-round platform for the training of philanthropic talent and international cooperation.

At the closing ceremony on September 6, Li Xikui, Secretary-General of the CPAFFC and Chairman of China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD), Carles Llorens, Secretary General of the Organization of United Regions / Global Forum of Regional Governments and Associations of Regions (ORU-Fogar), Deng Lan, Deputy Secretary-General of CFFPD, Tseng Carter, Board Member of Give2Asia, Birger Stamperdahl, President & CEO of Give2Asia, George SyCip, Board Chairman of Give2Asia, and Ma Jiezhi Jennifer, Vice-President of BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Professor Ngai Sek-yum Steven, Chairman of the Department of Social Work at CUHK, Professor Liu Qinglong, WPF Academic Committee Member and Professor of School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, Huang Zhenping, Deputy Dean of the Institute for Philanthropy Tsinghua University, and the representative of the Shenzhen Commonweal Fund Federation jointly released the forum outcomes.

    Mr. Carles Llorens, Secretary General of the ORU-Fogar, launched the Regional and Local Governments Philanthropy Promotion Cooperation Plan at the closing ceremony and exchanged the memorandum with Ms. Deng Lan, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development. The ORU-Fogar will work with CPAFFC on a local philanthropic project of poverty alleviation and make the whole region more sustainable.

Tseng Carter, Board Member of Give2Asia, Birger Stamperdahl, President & CEO of Give2Asia, George SyCip, Board Chairman of Give2Asia, and Ma Jiezhi Jennifer, Vice-President of BNY Mellon Wealth Management, jointly launched the Philanthropy and Wealth Inheritance Plan. The plan was co-sponsored by Give2Asia and BNY Mellon and it mainly includes three action plans: The first action plan is to commit ourselves to philanthropy. The second action plan is to establish a perpetual mechanism for the inheritance of good wealth, including corporate social responsibility funds, philanthropic trust and perpetual philanthropic funds. The third action plan is to establish an action network for international consultation and cooperation, including the co-construction of countries along the route of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Asia and philanthropy in relevant areas of the countries under "South-South Cooperation". The areas covered include protection of the rights and interests of women and children, rural revitalization and development, public health and education equity, etc.

Ms. Deng Lan, Deputy Secretary-General of the CFFPD, launched Philanthropy for Future Competition Plan. The competition will unite international organizations such as Junior Achievement (JA), as well as well-known institutions, enterprises and universities from home and abroad, to provide youths around the world with a platform for communication, thinking, and creation. The platform will encourage and inspire the youth to use their original intention of good to innovate, use innovative thinking to promote public welfare practices, and contribute their wisdom and strength to social development and human progress.

Professor Ngai Sek-yum Steven, WPF Academic Committee Member, Chairperson of the Department of Social Work at CUHK, and Professor Liu Qinglong, WPF Academic Committee Member and Professor of School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, jointly launched the Social Services Leading Talents Training Plan and exchanged the Cooperation Agreements on the Master's Degree Education Program.

Launch Site of the Foundation's International Friendly Cooperation Program

|Foundation's International Friendly Cooperation Program

Huang Zhenping, Deputy Dean of the Institute for Philanthropy Tsinghua University, and the representative of the Shenzhen Commonweal Fund Federation jointly launched the Foundation's International Friendly Cooperation Program. Shenzhen Commonweal Fund Federation will join hands with WPF to build the International Exchange and Cooperation Committee of Shenzhen Commonweal Fund Federation and will promote more than 400 public welfare foundations in Shenzhen to "go global" and conduct industry exchanges, project cooperation, and resource interfacing with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, countries along the Belt and Road routes, and outstanding foundations in Europe and the United States.
