World Philanthropy Forum Declaration of Friendship

The 2nd World Philanthropy Forum jointly sponsored and organised by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship and Tsinghua University was held in Beijing, aiming to promote the concerted efforts in implementing UN Sustainable Development Goals and establishing a community of shared future for mankind. More than 100 experts, scholars and industry leaders from over 30 countries had extensive discussions on major issues such as anti-poverty, environmental protection, youth development and social value investment. They shared experiences, conducted dialogues, talked about the future, promoted cooperation and reached the following consensuses:

Recalling the Charter of the United Nations, we bear in mind that we shall spare no effort to develop the friendly relations among all nations in the world, promote universal peace, actively participate in UN affairs, win wide respect and establish a consultation mechanism.

Faced with the complex reality of the world, we recognize that the world we are living in is now filled with common challenges such as widening gap between the rich and the poor, major infectious diseases, climate change and terrorism in its reform and development, in addition to innovation, cooperation and hope.

Looking into the future and development, we look forward to the concerted efforts of the people of all nations in building a community of shared future for mankind, establishing a friendly world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness & inclusiveness and cleanliness & beauty.

Learning from history, we think that the civil society organizations have become an important force driving the peoples of all countries to take part in public affairs, promote economic and social development, and cope with the common challenges of mankind. Through people-to-people communication and livelihood projects, the civil society organizations have become an important bond between all the countries attracting global attention for cross-border cooperation, and a significant support for the implementation of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, Belt and Road Initiative and the building of a community for shard future for mankind with concerted efforts.

Based on the above, we will:

1. continue to hold the World Philanthropy Forum, uphold our commitment to experience sharing, academic exchange, personnel training, policy advocacy and practice promotion in global charity work and social services, pay common attention to, advocate and implement people-to-people communication & friendship and livelihood projects within the framework of Belt and Road Initiative and South-South Cooperation;

2. pay special attention to the areas such as anti-poverty, youth development, health development of women and children, ecological environment protection, apply new specialised methods such as social value investment, Internet and social work to promote social services and the dialogues & exchanges between China, overseas Chinese and the international civil society, demonstrating China's willingness, wisdom and programs for active participation in the affairs of the United Nations;

3. call on Chinese and foreign business communities to establish a dialogue mechanism for civil society organizations, provide stage for the business leaders to deal with the common challenges and changes of mankind, promote the mechanism of BOD chairman's commitment to corporate social responsibilities, and ensure sufficient funding, information disclosure and a team dedicated to corporate social responsibilities;

4. establish the mechanism of consultancy and partnership, invite key figures in the academic, business and political communities as well as social organizations around the globe to form a diversified and cross-border panel of consultants and partners for the World Philanthropy Forum;

5. initiate the establishment of a Community of Shared Future for Mankind(CSF), a cooperative network for synergy in charity work and social services based on the World Philanthropy Forum, uphold the principle of consultation, co-building and sharing, encourage consultation on equal footing among the members of the CSF, promote mutual supports in researches, policies and cases, boost inter-organization exchanges and joint actions, carry out cross-industry and comprehensive cooperation, set up groups for hot topics & areas to promote the follow-up work and the implementation of the consensuses made in the forum, and establish corresponding assessment mechanism;

6. set up a communication mechanism between the United Nations and the governments, with the functions of information sharing, business exchange, cooperation & complementation, resource matching and policy advocacy, and establish effective channels for policy advices on hot topics & areas between China, other governments and the United Nations;

7. promote the mechanism of communication, dialogue and partnership among civil society organizations, boost the exchanges between Chinese and international social organizations as well as their counterparts in developing countries within the CSF framework, enhance the willingness and efficiency of concerted cooperation within the CSF framework, and carry out corresponding support plans or projects;

8. prepare for the establishment of an Academic Committee to strengthen the discipline building and academic research with the integration of charitable work and social services, promote discussion on topics related to charity work and social services, provide teachers and cases for the training of social workers, and accelerate the academic researches on building the CSF;

9. train qualified social workers, carry out capacity-building, build a talent pool of social workers for Chinese, foreign and international social organizations, set up a training and capacity-building mechanism, and innovate the development of social services; and

10. promote innovations in experiments and researches in social work, encourage the academic and research institutions in various countries to incorporate the latest research findings into the related experiments, to assess policies, economic costs, social benefits, social resistances and stakeholders, and improve policies, suggestions and methods of implementation.
