Session I of the “Belt and Road” International Philanthropy Talents Exchange Program Held Successfully

According to the "International Philanthropy Talents Development Program" announced at the Third World Philanthropy Forum in 2018, the Session I of the "Belt and Road" International Philanthropy Talents Exchange Program, jointly organized by China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, Institute for Philanthropy Tsinghua University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), was held from May 10 to 17 in Hong Kong of China and Bangkok of Thailand. Top leaders from 11 domestic social organizations attended the event, including Shanxi Public Welfare Promotion Association, Wish 1000 Foundation in Zhejiang, Beijing Guangming Charity Foundation, Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation, Shenzhen Enterprise Evaluation Association, Harvest Foundation in Beijing, China Social Welfare Foundation and Fujian Highsun Foundation.

During the visit to Hong Kong, the delegation attended the training workshop of The Chinese University of Hong Kong on the management of international philanthropic projects, and held meetings with World Vision Hong Kong, Hong Kong Red Cross, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, elder care institutions under New World in Hong Kong, Peter KK Lee Care for Life Foundation Limited, UBS Optimus Foundation and Caritas Hong Kong. The visit has fully enhanced the relationship between the social organizations of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

During the visit to Thailand, the delegation attended the UNDP's training workshop on the international cooperation of social organizations, and held meetings with The Rockefeller Foundation, World Vision Foundation of Thailand, The Asia Foundation and other international organizations. At the meetings, they discussed the introduction of international standards and international project fund raising by social organizations and reached consensus on a broad basis.

The visits of exchange and study have played an active role in helping Chinese social organizations enhance their international vision and abilities for managing philanthropic projects and participating in international cooperation, and made positive contribution towards deepening the understanding, friendship, consensus and cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and between China and Thailand to jointly promote the "Belt and Road Initiative".

 

The International Philanthropy Talents Development Program will be held on a long-term basis within the framework of the World Philanthropy Forum, along with a diversity of high-calibre philanthropic talent development sub-programs to be hosted, such as Master of Non-profit Organization Management or Philanthropy Management. The Session II of the program is planned to be held in Vietnam and the Philippines this June.

Through this meaningful visit and exchange, the "Belt and Road" Philanthropy Talents Exchange team has provided an opportunity for the social organizations of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong to understand each other.

The delegation expresses their resolution to contribute to the communication activities and future projects under the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the development of philanthropy, poverty alleviation and other public welfare areas.
